I'm still alive!

Hey everyone!

It's been over a week since I've written last! Sorry about that! I've been busy with work, and trying to look for another job. I've applied for more positions with Keller ISD, HEB ISD and Irving ISD. I know Irving is a tough crowd, but they pay REALLY nicely. I wouldn't mind the drive either, so it's whatever at this point.

I've also been working out (I didn't go at all last week...bad Dani) and tanning. The tanning has been going well except for my last visit! I decided to tan with a thong...and needless to say my butt got a little burnt. Lesson learned: if that part of my body normally doesn't see the sun, it's probably going to burn. But hey! It's all nice and tan there now, hehe! No tan lines, yeah!

I got the invitation to my cousin's wedding, and I'm pretty excited! They're getting married at this very nice hotel in Minneapolis. They've reserved some rooms to receive a group rate, and I'm thinking about just staying at this place. $159+tax per night. Here's what I figure: if I stay at another hotel, I'll have to pay for a cab (or some other mode of transportation), and that's going to run into some serious cash. I might as well spend an extra $60 or so to just stay at the hotel where the wedding and reception are going to be at! This way I can get ready and go downstairs! Done and done.
Oh! And it's a 5 o'clock wedding. I REALLY want to wear this dress:

Cute right? I figured I could stick a pretty necklace, some cute black heels, a simple purse and be done! And it's a cotton sateen dress with POCKETS! I could wear it again to other semi-formal events. Win, for sure. What do you think?

GLEE!
The Power of Madonna episode was aired on Tuesday, and it just made me love Glee even more! I know some of my readers aren't fans (*cough*MEL*cough*), but that's okay! You wanna know what really ticked me off on Tuesday? American Idol ran over into Glee's timeslot, and since I wasn't home I had my DVR record it. Yeah, I watch it later that night only to discover that the last performance (Like a Prayer) was CUT OFF! Oh my GOD, I was livid! So I had to wait til the next day to watch it on Hulu. It was worth the wait though....great performance, and it definitely gave me goosebumps! Fox is going to re-air it tomorrow (Friday) for the people whose DVR/TiVO recordings were cut off! Thanks Fox! ;]

I'm going to fake bake and workout, then get ready for work! Tomorrow is FRIDAY, woo!

Later Days!
Dani

I love when we get to talk fashion!

I have a brand new Calvin Klein cocktail dress in a size 12 that I've never worn, you can have it if the wedding is after June. It's super sexy and we have a similar body type so I think it would work for you too.

Of course it's all about you so, if you love that dress in the picture you should wear it! I have to be honest though that, IMO, sateen is very much a day fabric and is too informal for an after-five event.

Concerns about thhe dress itself: it could be a smidge brides-maidy and the front pleats could add a lot of pounds in the midsection or even look a bit maternity-ish if the waist is too high. If you've tried it on, have someone take a picture of you in from the side JIC the pleats are working against you!

Cotton is also not much of an investment fabric. Because it loses color so quickly so you might not get as much wear out of it as you would a silk, satin or taffeta LBD. Dry-cleaning solves that problem though!

Bradley Bayou says the best dress for our shape is a corseted a-line with a cap sleeve, or a strapless a-line like yours (minus the front pleats) and a cropped jacket. A v-neck or sweetheart neckline is most slimming.

Never knew I could have so much to say about a dress, hey? :) Like I said, you have to wear what you love, I'm just blabbering because the opp. presented itself. lol
