Cleaning: is it really that hard to do?

>> Thursday, April 8, 2010

Hey, hello!

How is everyone? It's Thursday, and I'm honestly itching for the weekend! It's been one of those weeks, you know?

So I have a question for you:
Have you EVER been completely disgusted by someone's cleaning habits (or lack thereof)? I had an argument with a certain boy yesterday. He wants me to come over to his place to hang out, which I'd LOVE to do, but I have an issue. He lives with his older brother, and their house is DISGUSTING! Dishes with stuff crusting up in the sink and sitting there for God knows how long, dirty and clean clothes all over the floor, pizza boxes, dishes just sitting around, and not to mention the bathroom. If I have to use it and the toilet seat is up, I come back out and ask him to put the seat down. I don't want to touch it! Also, every time I'm over there, I feel the urge to clean. I can't help myself! Then he gets a little upset...so if you don't want me to clean, then do it before I come over! He tried to tell me there "was nothing he could do about it." Um, yes he can. It's called clean up your room, bathroom, and the sitting area upstairs! It wouldn't kill him!

Now, I'll admit I'm not the cleanliest person. I hate dusting! But you know what? At least I pick up all my crap, and pull out a vacuum every once in a while! Oh, and I never leave dishes sitting in my room: if it's sitting there for even an hour it bugs me. I have to go rinse it off and put it in the dishwasher! If he comes over to my house we have a place to sit, and he can actually walk into my room without having to step over stuff.

Am I being ridiculous or should he actually clean up before I come over? Shouldn't he want me to feel comfortable and not want to clean every time I'm there?

I need honest opinions, lovelies!

Later Days!
Dani

I think you're being rediculous. Some people are just messy/untidy, it's the way they are. For a person like you it may seem disgusting to sit in a mess, but it's obviously not bothering him and it probably feels a bit hurtful that you're making such a big deal about something so trivial. It's almost like you're calling him disgusting over dishes???? Why? It doesn't matter. They're just dishes. It's just a mess. Who cares. It doesn't affect your relationship and he shouldn't have to spend the whole day cleaning just so you'll accept his environment.
