New layout...and some other stuff!

Hey guys!

I was just playing around with some backgrounds, and totally thought I lost everything!! But never fear, since I'm so totally awesome, I figured it out! Along with that, I found a few cool little things from Shabby Blogs, and I added them on here! I love the little blinky at the end of the post! So cute right?

This was just a quick post! I'm starting to show how good I am with HTML! Yay!

Busy weekend!

>> Monday, March 22, 2010

Hey everyone!

I had such a fun, great and busy weekend! Let's get started, shall we?

Friday:
I only had to work from 10:45 to 2:45, which is pretty awesome. It didn't eat up my entire day! So after getting off, I got my nails done! It was nice to get them done after not doing so for a long time! I met up with Christine at Red Robin's! We had a few drinks, and she bought my 35mm camera for $90! I think that's a pretty good sale! $25 of that was in the form of a Target gift card, but I can't complain! So you know Old Navy is right in the vicinity, so I went over there to check out what goodies they had! I'll post my haul video at the end of this post ;] I hung out with Joe that night. He gave me a promise ring!! I was so excited, and I couldn't (and I still can't) stop looking at it! It's beautiful! Think I'm lying? Here's my proof!

There it is! Isn't it gorgeous?! It's just the kind of style I love too!

This is the side. I'm not a huge fan of the heart shape, but I like how it's there in an inconspicuous way ;]
Joe had great timing!

Saturday:
I get up bright and early to go see Marcie, my hairdresser. She came in at 7:30 just to do my highlights before me and Joe's portraits that morning. And can I say that Mother Nature (or her Texas relative...I like to call her Mother Jean) has HORRIBLE timing? The weather was beautiful ALL week, and it was rainy, windy, cold and even SNOWY the day Joe and I get our pictures done. Lame.
After pictures (which were fun by the way, I can't wait to see them), we both changed into more weather appropriate clothes, and I wanted to check out the new GW Boutique. It's a Goodwill store, but with only higher brands for dirt cheap! Stay tuned, I talk about it in my video below!
After my shopping fun, we went to eat lunch at Freebird's. I can't say I was too entirely impressed with their food. Call me crazy, but I think Chipotle is way better. After we ate, Best Buy was our next stop. Joe was looking for an HP netbook. He didn't find it, but I found my Twilight: New Moon DVD! Exciting!
Joe eventually found his netbook at Office Max for $299, which is a great price! After that, we went back to my place to chill out and watch a movie (can you guess which one?).

Haul video!

Sunday:
This day was pretty much filled with a bunch of nothing. And that's okay! I took Joe a Sonic drink to work, snooped around Target a bit, then went home! Nothing too exciting!

Wait did I just say, "nothing too exciting"?! Oh, if only I knew that history was going to be made later on that night. Yes, my fellow bloggers and Americans: the healthcare reform bill was PASSED!! Some of it's amazingness includes:
- Making it a criminal act if insurance companies drop someone just because they get sick.
- Allowing young Americans (such as myself) to stay on their parents' policy until the age of 26
- and banning the insurance companies discrimination of pre-existing conditions
I cried tears of happiness! Not only is this bill going to help millions, it is buying me TIME. Time, which is so precious! I didn't have it before last night, and now I have a whopping 3.5 years to get started on my Bachelor's! A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

Speaking of tears...I'm going to make a sad paragraph.

One of my friends, Shayla, is going to be a Coastie wife as of this summer. She has been reading a blog of a fellow Military wife called "a little pink in a world of camo." Shayla has asked us to visit this young woman's blog and pray for her. This woman's husband, on his first tour in Iraq, was killed last week. He left behind many family members, a loving wife, and a beautiful daughter he never got to meet. I'm not a military family member, girlfriend, fiancée, or wife...but I do understand how horribly devastating the loss of a loved one can be.
I'm asking you to visit her blog, and leave her words of kindness and support. She has a long, rough road ahead and she needs all the support and love we can offer her and her baby girl.

Oh and PS:
I had my second free training session today, and there isn't any of this "I'm going to feel this in the morning" business! I'm feeling it now! I can barely walk! Damn lunges...

I feel like venting.

>> Friday, March 19, 2010

Hey guys.

So, venting. Let's get on with it.

[ rant ]
I have a person I work with, who has APPARENTLY been going around the corporate office and complaining about me! She was saying, "It has to be stopped!" and "I don't know what Sara was letting her group leader do, but it needs to be stopped!" She brought up how Joe came up to the center and surprised me with a Sonic drink. And on that occasion, there was ONE child left, and I was literally on my way out. Seriously? This person has replaced Sara as a site director (for now, she's just a sub). I talked to Sara about it, and she said this person is just pissed I didn't take the site manager position and now she's stuck.

I am livid. How dare she?! This woman is complaining about me at corporate, trying to make me look bad to the higher-ups, and maybe trying to lose my job? I don't know, but either way I'm seriously pissed. Maybe I shouldn't put forth effort anymore. Like, oh I don't know, signing in the kids (because I know who they are), put out the centers, and the buckets (cause the kids are used to a certain way), talk/discipline the kids (because I know how each child reacts, and how to handle each of their personalities) or talk to the parents (because they know and trust me, not so much this other woman).

For some odd reason, people think I can't take criticism. If someone has a problem with me, they need to speak to me about it, and not to someone at corporate where everyone is in ear shot. It's childish, immature and makes me feel like I'm back in high school. Seriously, this woman is at LEAST in her 50s/60s, I'm only 22 and I know you don't do that. UGH!
[ /rant ]

I had to get that off my chest. I'm considering talking to this person about it. I don't want to be bitchy, but just say "I heard you voiced some complaints about me at corporate. Would you like to discuss it with me?" and see what she says.

Thoughts?

Getting started

>> Monday, March 15, 2010

Hey everyone!

I had my first personal training session yesterday. Wondering why it took me so long to get to it? Well, I had issues with my bank, so I had to push back my start date. Boo, and oh so inconvenient. Anyways, I'm super, super sore. I know the best thing to do is to push through it and be active but I'm definitely not interested! However, I'm going to take Riley for a walk this morning and just suck it up!

In other news: I have had WAY too much come at me at once this past week! As you know, I've been subbing and trying to get a job with Keller ISD. Also, Sara, my site director and great friend, left Clayton for a bigger and better opportunity. Since she's gone that leaves her position open. A few weeks before she left, our PC (Program Coordinator) told her she felt I wasn't ready to be a site manager/director. They must have changed their minds because she came in and offered me Sara's old job. Really....really? They're getting desperate, and I'm their only option!
I told them I would not be taking the position. After talking with Sara, I realized I don't want to be put in her position a few years down the line and Sara said she's thrilled I won't be taking the job. It doesn't pay enough for what you do!

I was told by Carol, who hired Sara to go work at her office, that if Keller ISD doesn't work out to give her a call. I'm an impatient person. I went ahead and called her. I told her KISD is dragging their feet, and I need to find a better position now, and not in August. She said she would definitely keep me in mind! Sara told me that a few people at their office are probably going to leave when they move their office to Southlake. So maybe then? Who knows! All I do know is I have opportunities! Isn't that what I prayed for?

That's all I have for now! I'll have another update soon!

Fashionista?

>> Friday, March 5, 2010

Hey everyone!

What is up with me lately? I've been paying more attention to fashion/beauty trends! I'm trying to find more clothes and styles that look cute on me! Also, I've been wanting to wear bright colors and those cute little light-weight scarfs! Maybe it's the Spring season? I don't know but it's very out of character!

I'll be honest. I've tried my best to keep up with trends before, but I've never been the type to pull off the trendy stuff. Mom says I look better in the classic styles, and I agree with her. My main problem is money. I've never been able to afford to just go shopping for clothes, and come home with a whole new season's worth of wardrobe, you know? I have friends who can go to Target, Old Navy, Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshall's and put together the CUTEST outfits! Me? I guess I don't have that natural radar! I tend to buy little pieces I think I can put together, only to find out they so don't and then I'm buying even more pieces I think go with those other pieces...and you see where this is going. What am I doing wrong? Am I looking in the wrong stores? Am I buying the wrong pieces?

I need friends I can shop with! I love having that support system of girlfriends, and having someone be honest with you without hurting your feelings! I went shopping with Mel once and she found me the most adorable grey dress! I can accessorize it for any season! The best part? I only spent $20 on it! Unfortunately for me, Mel moved to Australia and probably won't be back for a few more years! What am I going to do?! I've asked my little sister to help me out, because I'll admit she dresses better than I do. I don't think she likes to shop with me though. Ugh! I wish I could take Mel's knowledge of style and implant it to my brain. Can we arrange this, please?

Just a little rant about style and my (sometimes) lack-thereof.

Put up or shut up!

>> Monday, March 1, 2010

Hello, hello!

Wow! I took a big, but good, step today! You ready for this?

I'm a gym member! I went into American Family Fitness, got a tour, and signed up! It's only going to be $25/month! Also, that $25 includes all their classes. I'm pretty excited! Including last month's payment and processing fee, it's only going to be $80 to get started! I know that seems like much, but compared to other gyms in the area, that is SO cheap! The owner isn't going to charge my account until Friday, and thank God for that! I told her I don't get paid til then, and she was totally cool with it! And as a bonus, she threw in two free training sessions and a massage therapy session! How cool is that? Oh! There isn't a contract either! It's a month-to-month deal. I can cancel whenever I want! :]

So, why join a gym, Dani? A few reasons! One, I want to get my blood sugars and my A1C down. Two, my cousin is getting married in June, so I kinda want to look cute for that! Three, I want to be able to shop for cute clothes!! I'm tired of having to buy large-sized shirts to accommodate my waist size, then my shirt is gaping open at the top because of the lack of chest! And four, I haven't had a consistent activity level since marching season 2005! SAD.

My goal is to lose about 25 to 30 pounds. Totally doable! I just need to get my butt in gear and just go work out! Two or three days a week isn't that bad! And it's right next to Planet Tan...so maybe after a few work outs I can go tanning? Only if I can afford it though! I can't overdo it!

I've begun working on my fitness....now it's time to work on my diet. Any suggestions, lovelies? I don't always have time to cook, so any tips are helpful!

Time for homework. And before you ask, yes, school is still not there for me! UGH.
